Honorees
Kacie-Ann McDermot
Born and partially raised in Jamaica, Kacie-Ann McDermot is a remarkable high school junior whose life reflects her deep faith, resilience, and determination. She describes her journey as a living testimony of God’s goodness, sharing that it was during one of the lowest and most desperate moments in her life that she truly recognized God’s protective hand guiding her through. Since then, Philippians 4:13 has remained close to her heart, reminding her that through Christ she can overcome every obstacle placed before her.
Passionate about encouraging the next generation, Kacie-Ann strives to inspire young people to love God and understand that they are never too young to live a Godly life and positively influence others. She actively pours into children as a Children’s Church teacher at Morning Star Church, where she enjoys helping young minds grow in faith and confidence.
Her faith is reflected not only in her service but also in her commitment to excellence. Academically, Kacie-Ann has consistently distinguished herself as a top-performing student. She has maintained the highest GPA in her cohort throughout her freshman, sophomore, and current junior years, currently ranking fourth in a junior class of more than 100 students. She is a Principal’s Honor Roll student and an active member of the National Honor Society.
Beyond academics, Kacie-Ann is a writer, a nature lover, and someone deeply devoted to children. Inspired by becoming an older sister at the age of nine, she developed a passion for caring for others that has shaped her future aspirations. She plans to pursue a career in pediatric medicine, combining her compassion, faith, and academic dedication to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families.
victoria ferguson
Victoria Ferguson is a graduating high school senior whose academic excellence, creativity, and passion for community impact have distinguished her throughout her high school journey. Maintaining a remarkable 4.0 GPA across all four years, Victoria has demonstrated not only discipline and determination but also a character that reflects compassion, leadership, and purpose.
Beyond academics, Victoria has actively contributed to her school community through both the woodworking club and theater program. In the woodworking club, she created a variety of unique handcrafted pieces that showcased her creativity and attention to detail. In theater, she recently performed in the musical Cinderella as the Cheese Merchant and one of the featured horses on stage. She also played an active role in senior planning, helping organize events including Senior Sunrise, the first pep rally, Spirit Week, and other memorable activities for her graduating class.
Victoria has also faithfully served at Morning Star Church through its audiovisual ministry, where she worked as a camera operator, created and operated worship presentation slides for morning services, and assisted in Children’s Church. Her willingness to serve behind the scenes reflects both her dedication and heart for ministry.
Victoria further expanded her interests through an internship with ESKW/Architects, a firm dedicated to designing and building community-focused projects that provide access to shelter, education, and culture for all—particularly for vulnerable populations. Her experience there deepened her passion for architecture, urban development, and advocacy surrounding the effects of gentrification on communities.
A scripture that continues to guide Victoria is Matthew 6:26–34. Reflecting on its meaning, she shares: “It reminds me to not be anxious of the things that bother me because God has it all under control. If it’s something I can fix, I don’t have to worry. If it’s something I can’t fix, then I shouldn’t worry. If I bring my cares to God and truly leave them there, I know that I will be okay.”
As Victoria prepares to begin the next chapter of her journey, she carries with her a strong commitment to excellence, creativity, faith, and service. Her future is bright, and there is no doubt she will continue to make a meaningful difference wherever she goes.
